Board Review Course

June 28-30th, 2019

Orthopedics as a specialty has become a very broad one, including: the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, reconstruction of the hip and knee, and ankle and foot. Not forgetting Pediatrics and tumor surgery as a specialty.

Before becoming a sub-specialist, one has to know the basics, which includes all of the above mentioned fields.

It is not permissible for a minimally-invasive spine surgeon, as an example, to miss a diagnosis in other fields claiming that it is not within his/her specialty.

For this not to happen, all Orthopedic surgeons should have a good basic knowledge of Orthopedics prior to diving into a particular subspecialty. Hence, the initiative of the International Musculoskeletal Society to start a unique Board Review Preparatory Course to prepare and equip doctors in the knowledge of preparing for the exam and most importantly what to do and what not to do during the board examination.

For this initiative to reach its fullest potential, the IMS is partnering with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the North American Spine Society (NASS).
